The Mystery of IRH-02 - Chapter 1 [Science fiction series]
CHAPTER 1 : Beginning of Chaos
Elen had heard the rumors about politics in the Energia01.
“Have you heard about leadership changes and there is mistrust in public over their claims and safety of their medicines on both planet earth and planet x. I think Energia01 is going to shut down.” Elen said.
“There will be thousands more, in each galaxy.” said Alden while setting the prediction parameters (Temperature, penalty points, tokens etc.) on the computer.
“ Isn’t it scary enough to have one? Huh!” Elen exclaimed and left the room with worry and disappointment by the alden’s response.
This had no effect on Alden and he got busier in his work. The coffee turned cold, the sun left the scene, and lights turned on. He was still busy, rushing here and there in the lab typing prompts with a happy face, due to the effect of “Andromedia”.
Alden and Elen are working in IRH-02. IRH-02 is an interplanetary reality hub approved by the Union government of the World a few weeks ago, and is in beta testing right now. This was the concept of Mr. 110124 who visited earth to stop the happenings of world war III. The world did not have World war III due to his efforts, and the world learned new ways of governance to survive. Of course there were trust issues, chaos, protests, sanctions and what not. But with continuous caution and efforts, humans over 100 years made deals with these new people, leading to formation of a single government representing the whole planet earth and it is called the “Union govt of the world”. It's been 500 years, the government made the first ever interplanetary reality hub and upgraded it to IRH-02.
IRH-02, being the second interplanetary reality hub, is filled with the highest forms of intelligence, most advanced tech of the earth, time travel portals and a team of 5 scientists working on solving the hardest problems in the world. It is surrounded by a safety net, called 000 (Triple O).
There are strict SOPs inside the IRH-02, and no one can escape it once entered without following 15 different authentications at each door. The 5 scientists working here are on “Andromedia”, an artificial fluid that keeps one charged, energetic for months, regulates the mood, and keeps the brain active up to 40% of its potential, as said in the product brochure of the company “Energia01” which made it.
Andromedia is a gas that has no smell and no colour. It is packed in a puffed thin film of “Hydrotin,” a material which is made from water, but works like plastic unless a specific pressure, pH and temperature combination is reached. This dosage form was invented to quickly absorb the drug into the body. The bubblewrap type looking puffed pill is taken orally, and it enters the trachea, keeps shrinking, releasing gas. Almost half of the dose goes into bronchi, and travels to the alveoli and vanishes. While Half gets directly absorbed from the mucosa of the mouth. The water molecules of the hydrotin also undergo degradation and convert into the gas to get mixed in Andromedia structure. The exact mode of action of the gas and its composition is unknown to humans as it has been procured from another planet with non disclosure agreement. Though the government is secretly trying to study these formulations with their own hidden labs.
And the union government cannot ask directly about the composition of such formulations, as this would breach the trust agreement 34XZH21 between union govt of earth and union govt of Planet X. Energia01 secured this deal because this company has found cure to several diseases for people of Planet X and continues to export the medicines there. In return they have secured the formulation and manufacturing of sixteen products that are breakthroughs for the human race, and would have taken 100 more years to develop. And it is doing more deals. Energia01 is the highest valued company in the world, both on planet X and earth, and is situated on the Exporia. Exporia is an artificial station situated in the middle of Planet X and Planet earth, made through collaboration of both governments for industrial development. It is the size of half of the Earth’s moon. Energia01 was the most profitable among all. And IRH-02 was the first place on earth where they shipped Andromedia.Alden and Elen were one of their first users on earth.
Alden finally got up for dinner, went to the cafeteria, looking at all the people with smiling faces in the area. He sat for dinner and his active brain remembered an unusual thing from the morning. Elen was worried while talking to him, instead of being happy. This was highly unusual, as everyone in the IRH remains happy, always. Even through his happiness, a doubt crept in about Elen and he decided to see her immediately. But as per rules, he will be able to get up from the comfortable automatic chair only after finishing dinner. He followed the rule with his happy face and once finished, he started walking towards her room.
And while on the way, he looked out of the window and he saw sun up in the sky. It was a completely bright sky as an afternoon would show. But he just got out of dinner. He looked into the watch, and it was night 11 pm.
“Is this watch right? What is happening here?” His worries turned his face pale, but the smile did not drop.
He realized something, and moved towards the office of the department head “Mr. Casey”. He kept walking fast, kept dialing number, but neither could he reach the office which was on the next turn and nor did anyone pick up the phone. He kept returning to the same window with sweat on his forehead.
He stopped when he heard Elen saying, “Hey, Alden…”
He took a breath, and turned back. His happy face turned down with fear of what he just saw. Three Elens were standing in the hallway, looking at him.
